Yesterday morning we started a new Bible memorization project with the Women's Prayer Breakfast! We had a wonderful time yesterday morning and it felt like everyone was encouraged and challenged to participate. We learned to RENEW our minds (Romans 12:2) by memorizing scripture - 2 a month, keeping them in beautiful neon colored spirals.
The funniest part of this was I called my awesome friend and sister, Maria, asking her in my southern twang if I was "stealing" an idea!! "No", Maria says with her beautiful laugh! I just didn't feel like getting a call from Beth M saying I've stolen her idea of the spirals! hahaha... :) But, those spirals are such a great tool!!
We are starting off and almost everyone shared a verse they were going to start memorizing. Not only is this helpful in filling our minds with the right stuff, but it will help us learn to pray.
If you read this and want to participate, the only requirement is to post on this blog what verse you are memorizing. If you don't have a spiral, let me know and I'll send you one. Feel free to write why you've chosen the verse (you should own this verse; it's a verse you need like you need a drink of water, and it's a verse that speaks personally to you). Write about how this verse is encouraging you and, write about how God is working in and through you with this verse.
The postings are done by the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month.
The verse I'm memorizing is Isaiah 55:11 -
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Praise be to God!! He is GOOD!!!!
This is wonderful! Thank you Michelle for putting this together (and for the awesome spirals-I can actually find that in my purse!!).
ReplyDeleteI'm memorizing Ephesians 3:16-19 and Deuteronomy 8:3. Ephesians speaks directly to how much God loves us and Deuteronomy talks about how vital the Word is to our life. They are both so appropriate for this season of my life.
My first memory verse for the month is John 10:27. "My sheep listen to my voice, I know them, and they follow me." How awesome that we have a God who speaks to us!
ReplyDeleteMy second verse for March was James 5:16. "Therefore confess your sinds to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."
ReplyDeleteA few of my friends and family have started a prayer meeting on Wednesday nights. We just celebrated our year anniversary of our meeting! It's been wonderful and such a blessing to my Wednesdays! This verse speaks directly to the prayer meeting and how we've seen prayers answered and how we've become such a community. Some prayers, however, have not been answered yet. I know though, that God may or may not always bring physical healing BUT He will ALWAYS offer wholeness!
I am memorizing verses each month, but I am doing it a bit differently. I didn't feel like I should post, but Michelle encouraged me to do so anyway!
ReplyDeleteAs the theme for this year, I am memorizing Revelation 1:12-18 as the theme for this year--I want to know my Savior, who shines in amazing brilliance, but who also beckons us to "Not Be Afraid."
Also, over the next year, I am working on memorizing Romans 8. Right now, I am working on 8:1-5.
